| Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity | This Industry Capstone Program project is with the company Whitestone Analytics and the corporate partner is Frank Gallucci. The faculty advisor is Professor Zachary Feinstein. Whitestone Analytics is a boutique investment banking firm specializing in the buying and selling of industrial companies in the fluid power, motion control, and automation markets. The ability to analyze data is critical to Whitestone’s success. However, much of the analysis is currently done in an unsystematic way. To the best of our knowledge, there are few firms that use algorithms to determine if a company has a predisposition to sell to a qualified buyer. Whitestone has made a focused effort over the last few years to assemble a definitive database of enterprises that participate within Whitestone’s Market Sector. Utilizing and supplementing Whitestone’s database, it is Whitestone’s strategic intent to develop predictive algorithms that will provide leading indicators of a company’s predisposition to entertain an acquisition offer. Our Capstone project will complement and supplement Whitestone’s interest in this project. |
| Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required | This Capstone project would: Develop a database procurement strategy within Whitestone’s targeted markets. Help Whitestone secure that data (a make, buy decision). Clean the obtained data (scraped or purchased) to be useful for further analysis. Create an algorithm to automate the prior procedures Preferred qualifications of student team members: Entrepreneurial mind-set Data procurement and analytical skills Project management skills Insight into behavioral economic and macroeconomic drivers Programming ability
Open to all programs of study within the School of Business. |

Initial Onboarding Information
The application for the Industry Capstone Program will be emailed to all full-time School of Business graduate students on Monday, April 14th. This summer, we are excited to offer three unique projects through the program. Please note that we offer fewer projects during the summer semester, as many students are engaged in work, internships, or travel. If you're interested in exploring projects in a wider range of industries, be sure to check back with us for Fall 2025, when we’ll introduce new companies and expanded project scopes! The application for Summer 2025 will close on Sunday, May 4th at 11:59 PM EST. On Monday, May 5th our team will begin reviewing applications and matching students to project teams. Selected students will receive an email with the project match and next steps regarding onboarding and registration.
