Details
Project Title Transforming Procurement Analytics at Veolia
Project Topics Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Data Management Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis
Skills & Expertise Data Collection Statistics
Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
Veolia North America is a leader in the energy and utilities sector, recognized for its commitment to sustainability and operational excellence. Despite its success, the company strives to optimize its procurement processes due to fragmented data. Currently, Veolia possesses foundational data, but the lack of a consolidated and cleansed repository hampers its ability to gain meaningful insights across suppliers, business units, and categories. This situation results in missed opportunities for cost savings, inefficiencies in supplier management, and suboptimal decision-making.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  1. Key activities for this project will include data assessment and cleansing, where students will work with Veolia's existing datasets to identify inconsistencies and areas for improvement.
  2. They will utilize analytical techniques such as regression analysis and clustering to derive insights from procurement data.
  3. Students will also explore AI tools to automate data interpretation and generate actionable recommendations.
  4. The project will incorporate data visualization methodologies to present findings in an accessible format, facilitating distribution among stakeholders.
  5. Regular workshops with Veolia's Procurement Analysts will ensure alignment with business objectives and provide mentorship opportunities for students.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • The expected outcomes of this project include a refined and consolidated procurement data repository, actionable insights derived from AI analytics, and a suite of visual reports that enhance decision making capabilities.
  • Students will gain practical experience in data management, machine learning, and data visualization, developing skills that are critical for their future careers. The project aims to achieve specific SMART goals: 1) Consolidate 100% of existing procurement data within the first two months; 2) Implement AI as appropriate to support deployment of prioritized top 10 dashboards.
  • Driven insights to recommend at least three procurement strategies by the end of the project; 3) Create a data visualization dashboard that meets stakeholder requirements by the third month.

Spring 2026 Midterm Presentations
Required Action Item
The Midterm Presentation is a key milestone in your Capstone experience. It gives your team the opportunity to showcase your progress, clarify your project goals, and gather valuable feedback from your faculty advisor and School of Business staff.

This is your chance to demonstrate your understanding of the challenge, the approach you’re taking, and any early insights you've uncovered. Clear communication and thoughtful analysis at this stage will help ensure a strong finish to your project in the second half of the semester.

Treat it as both a checkpoint and a strategic opportunity to refine your work moving forward!

Christina Alwell will coordinate with team leads in February to schedule the midterm presentations. These will take place in mid-March.

Team Leads: Please upload a copy of your team’s Midterm Presentation here. This submission helps us keep track of progress and ensure faculty and industry partners have access to your work.
