Currently, gaps exist in the employee training programs, leading to vulnerabilities that attackers could exploit. The consequences of inadequate training can be severe, including data breaches, financial losses, and damage to the company's reputation. This challenge presents a crucial opportunity for students in the BMIS476 course; by developing a Phishing and Attack Simulation training policy, they can directly address these vulnerabilities.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  1. Key activities for this project will include conducting a needs assessment through surveys and interviews with employees to gauge their current understanding of phishing threats.
  2. Students will research and analyze best practices in cybersecurity training and develop a curriculum that incorporates both theory and practical simulations.
  3. Utilizing Microsoft Defender, students will create various phishing attack scenarios for testing.
  4. They will configure training materials within Microsoft Defender and establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program.
  5. Regular feedback sessions will be conducted with Blackfoot Communications stakeholders to ensure alignment with their needs and expectations.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • The expected outcomes of this project include the successful development and testing of a comprehensive Phishing and Attack Simulation training policy tailored to Blackfoot Communications. By the end of the project, students will have gained practical experience in project management, collaboration, and cybersecurity training development. Business value will be measured through increased employee awareness and preparedness against phishing attacks, evidenced by improved metrics in post training assessments.
