However, the company currently faces challenges in efficiently processing and analyzing vast datasets from the U.S. Census American Community Survey. The lack of a streamlined ETL process hinders timely access to crucial demographic and economic data, impacting the company's ability to deliver actionable insights to clients. As a result, Morton Analytics is missing opportunities to enhance client strategies, optimize resource allocation, and improve market positioning.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required

  1. Students will utilize ETL tools to extract data from the Census API.
  2. Census American Community Survey (2014-2023), transform it into usable formats, and load it into a database or parquet file format.
  3. They will employ time series data visualization techniques to create an interactive dashboard that showcases key population trends based on user selected market geographies (county, zip, tract).
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • The expected outcomes of this project include the successful creation of an ETL pipeline and a user.
  • Friendly dashboard that provides insights into demographic and economic trends from the U.S. Census data.
